How I ended up at WantecVR

For those who may not be familiar with me, I must confess that I am not quite as much of a car enthusiast as my esteemed colleagues at WantecVR. About a year ago, I was first invited to WantecVR on a random Friday night by a friend who knew I could use the night out. I felt out of my element listening to people talk racing, watch racing, and literally race on simulators. I was admittedly too scared to ask about the virtual reality room despite desperately wanting to try it out based on the screams I could hear from over the bar. I sat closed off at the end of the bar, nursing a beer and plotting a proper time to execute an Irish goodbye. My introverted cycles of thought were interrupted by the bartender, Patrick, a man I have come to know since like a brother. In five minutes, he had my shell broken, and I was in the crowd of regulars making introductions with people I have since created some of the best memories and projects with in my life. This was my first Friday night at WantecVR and it could be yours. You never know where a Friday night will lead so I ask you to start with us at WantecVR as everyone here will be happy to get to know you.

In the year I’ve been a regular at WantecVR I happily joined the staff helping out where I can and making the most of it. Shortly after starting, I was invited by Patrick to commentate on our League Night races every Wednesday night. Every Wednesday night we gather the best twelve racers out of our regulars, staff, and newcomers who qualify to race while Patrick and I commentate and keep the chat engaged. These are some incredibly dedicated people with a few of our racers competing on real tracks and honing their skills on our simulators. Regardless of where racers go to work Thursday morning, anything can happen and anyone can be a champion on a League Night with the right passion for driving. As for sportsmanship, I’ve seen racers slow down to hold rivalries with another car, on top of that we aim to keep each other accountable as it is just for fun and we want to keep it that way. I believe Patrick and I’s less than serious commentary style proves that. My life has gotten here after coming to WantecVR for just a beer, try coming in for a race and see where you get.

Please don't forget to tune into WantecVR on Twitch this Wednesday at 8 and give Patrick and I a hello in the chat.
