WantecVR is a space that only takes one encounter to have you hooked for life. While we have larger goals for our marketing, we can't help deny how word of mouth has really shaped the future of WantecVR. Christian Dehlbom is one of those cases as he was referred to WantecVR on a chance meeting at the mall job he worked with our producer Alex England. Despite living in Charleston now, we can always count on Christian coming into WantecVR as soon as he gets off the highway. Please enjoy Christian's story on how he ended up at WantecVR and what makes our group special.

How did you first hear about WantecVR?
"I actually first heard about wantec through Will (Deez), Anthony Torallo, and Kaiden (don’t know how to spell his last name). They came to the mall racers rig that Alex England and I worked at and told us about this bar that had a bunch of sims that they ran a league on".
What is your first memory at WantecVR as a customer?
"The first time I ever went to Wantec was actually for a Supercross race on a Saturday night, I think we ended up doing a few races that night too and that’s what made me want to go to league night".
When did you know WantecVR’s community was worth staying with?
"Everyone who’s tight with the Wantec crew is just super chill, the amount of support and camaraderie among the group is awesome. The community is super inclusive as well, as long as you’re not an asshole everybody is super cool with you. Everyone is always doing something interesting as well so nothing is ever boring or bland when you’re a part of this community".
What was WantecVR like when you first started?
"It was not as focused on racing lore in general I don’t think, it was more of a bar that had sims. Now I think it’s more of a racing themed bar and it really pairs with the simulators a lot more. There’s also a lot more to do when you aren’t racing on the sims or playing Anvio now. Wii, Xbox, switch, ps1 classic, and usually some sort of race happening on the tv. There’s always something to do now".
Why is WantecVR a place worth staying at?
"Like I said in the last question, there is always something to do. Wantec really fits my sporadic moods, I’m always jumping between things I want to do".
What makes WantecVR different as a bar aside from our games and virtual reality?
"The racing theme is definitely a unique part of Wantec. You’ll see car bumpers from a totaled GT3 car. You'll see wheels on the wall (steering wheels too), Niki Lauda is on the wall, I think Ayrton Senna is on the wall, like I said there’s always a race going on too. Wantec also sponsors multiple real life racing campaigns with Javier in spec Miata’s and Fletcher on the dirt track. So if you like cars and racing in any aspect, the Wantec crew and the atmosphere in there will get you hooked".
What makes a “regular” at WantecVR in your opinion?
"Pretty much anyone who is friends with the workers and or Stef, It’s a fairly inclusive spot. There’s also all the guys that go to league every week".
What is your favorite drink and why?
"Probably the high rise seltzers while they were in stock".
What kind of improvements are you wanting to see out of WantecVR?
"More racing paraphernalia, maybe a better sim software. Other than that I would want anything to change".
