WantecVR wouldn’t be where it is or where it’s headed if it weren’t for our video content keeping us inspired, and for that, we owe our executive producer, Alex England. I sat down with our executive producer and photographer, Alex England, to hear about how Wantec came into her life and beyond.
How did you first hear about WantecVR?
“Christian, an employee at the time, told me about it while working at the mall. “
What is your first memory at WantecVR as a customer?
“Christian brought me to league night several years ago, it was GT3's around laguna seca if I'm not mistaken. I had a blast and started coming weekly, and less than 3 months later I was working for Wantec”.
When did you know WantecVR was staying at?
“I knew I was going to stick around almost instantly. The atmosphere and the people are just too good to get enough of, there's always something interesting going on, and just the general concept of the place is fun”.
What was WantecVR like when you first started?
“Wantec was fairly far along, we had the full bar and league was rather healthy”.
Why is WantecVR a place worth staying at?
“It's really a place you can be yourself with no restrictions. Outside of being a great entertainment spot it's a really good place to stay for a while and chat with friends or meet new people”.
What makes WantecVR different as a bar aside from our games and virtual reality?
“The employees is what differentiates wantec the most in my opinion. There's no uniforms to distinguish a customer from an employee, but there's the natural chutzpah that all the employees carry that makes them stand out from the crowd. Everyone is such a character”.
What makes a “regular” at WantecVR, in your opinion?
“A wantec regular can be anybody, racecar driver, sweaty gamer nerds, and golfers all regular the bar. As long as they come in regularly and converse frequently with the staff they're a regular”.
What is your favorite drink and why?
“Favorite drink is a Carolina Russian, Carolina crème, Kalluha, and vodka”.
What kind of improvements are you wanting to see out of WantecVR?
“Definitely more race car parts and hopefully some trophies coming soon”.
