WantecVR is happy to announce our own race team!
We know it’s about time.
We are happy to have our own League Night dynamo, Javier Luarnaga, who is as uncatchable on the track as he is behind a racing simulator. Javier is a one-in-a-million guy and has been praised by the team for his character, sheer dedication to the sport, and determination to make something tangible out of this new stage for WantecVR. We couldn't be more thrilled to have Javier be the star of our team.
The WantecVR racing team collaborates with WantecVR staff and community members. The support staff includes our very own Alex James and Jordan Kolarik for car maintenance and Javier’s friend, Pablo, who provides the trailer sleeping arrangements. The team’s media staff is headed by our media producer, Alex England, with another league night champ, William Thomas, running what has been described as “Car Guy HR.” Of course, it wouldn’t be a WantecVR race without one of our commentators, our own Patrick Malloy, stepping up as a dedicated spokesman for the team.
On February 16th, the WantecVR racing team went to Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina, for its first set of races. We had one race on Saturday and two on Sunday. Unfortunately, on our first race, we had a DNF (did not finish) due to a misfiring issue on the track. Once that issue was patched, Javier took the WantecVR Miata into fifth place in the second. Javier held a far lead on the mid-field pack all the way to fourth place at a lap time of 1.50.2 in the 3rd and final race.
Based on our recovery during only 48 hours, we expect great things in the future. With only minor improvements to be made, we are confident that we possess a winning car that will make a real name for WantecVR. We’re already creating a name for ourselves for our car’s performance and Javier’s lap times.
We can only go up from here, and as always, we hope you join us on this adventure as we take our community to a new stage.
